Swedish chocolate balls recipe

Swedish chocolate balls

This is a classic Swedish chocolate ball recipe but with more "adult" flavor to it. I've loved these goodies since I was a child and I think that every Swedish kid has both ate as well as baked the original version. It's sweeter and with less coffee flavor, but nowadays I definitely prefer this version.

Ingredients

200 g butter (room temperature)

100 g fine dark chocolate

1 dl sugar

1 dl brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla powder

2-3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

5 dl regular rolled oats

4 tbsp cold strong espresso

I like to use cocoa powder as a garnish but if you prefer it less bitter just roll the balls in coconut flakes, sprinkles or pearl sugar instead.

Directions

  1. Finely chop the chocolate and mix with the dry ingredients.

  2. Add the butter and mix together, then pour in the espresso and knead together.

  3. Shape into balls and roll it in your chosen garnish. Lastly put it in the fridge until firm and enjoy with a nice cup of Cappuccino or an Espresso.
